MPSC Approves Settlement Agreement Authorizing The Detroit Edison Company's 2009 Power Supply Costs

Contact:  Judy Palnau (517) 241-3323

January 25, 2010

The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today approved a settlement agreement authorizing The Detroit Edison Company to implement its 2009 power supply cost recovery factor (PSCR).

The settlement agreement found a maximum PSCR factor of 1.67 mills per kilowatt-hour for residential PSCR customers and a maximum PSCR factor of 1.35 mills per kWh for commercial and industrial PSCR customers.  The one-time use of two separate PSCR factors for the 2009 PSCR plan is due to the utility's over-collection from commercial and industrial customers.

The utility, MPSC staff, Attorney General, Association of Businesses Advocating Tariff Equity, and the Michigan Environmental Council and Public Interest Research Group in Michigan participated in the settlement.

The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth.

Case No. U-15677
