MPSC to Hold Public Hearing on Proposed Rule Changes to Accounting Standards for Regulated Electric and Gas Utilities in Michigan

The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today said it will hold a public hearing to receive comments on proposed rule changes to accounting standards for regulated electric and gas utilities in Michigan.

The Commission has proposed rules to adopt by reference the 2009 versions of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's (FERC) gas and electric accounting rules.  The proposed revised rules are available for review here and here.

The public hearing will be held at 9 a.m. on Jan. 14, 2010, in the Commission's Lansing office, located at 6545 Mercantile Way.

In addition, interested persons may submit written or electronic comments regarding the proposed rules.  The comments must be received by the MPSC no later than 5 p.m. on Feb. 4, 2010.  Written comments should be sent to:  Executive Secretary, Michigan Public Service Commission, P.O. Box 30221, Lansing, MI  48909.  Electronic comments may be e-mailed to mpscedockets@michigan.gov.  All comments should reference Case Nos. U-14811 and U-14812.  All information submitted to the Commission in this matter will become public information, available on the Commission's Web site and subject to disclosure.
