LANSING - The Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation (OFIR) will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at 2:30 p.m. at the Michigan Library in Lansing. The hearing will be held to receive public comments on a proposed rule set that requires any insurance policy clause that authorizes an independent medical examination to include minimum standards for physicians and health professionals conducting exams. It also prohibits any clause in an insurance policy to assess examination related costs to the person being examined.
“We welcome public input on this proposed set of rules and encourage anyone with concerns or comments to submit them either electronically or at the hearing,” OFIR Commissioner Ken Ross said.
