How to become licensed as a non-resident Surplus Lines Producer

Only a person licensed for Surplus Lines in his or her home state may obtain a Michigan non-resident Surplus Lines license. The non-resident must also hold a non-resident license for Property, Casualty, Property and Casualty, or Accident and Health as the prerequisite license for Surplus Lines. The agency must obtain a non-resident Property, Casualty, Property and Casualty, or Accident and Health license. Both licenses must be in good standing in the home state in order to receive a Michigan non-resident license.
How to initially become licensed:

Electronic Resident Licensing (NRL) application. Application is good for six months from entry into our database. If exam is not passed within six months, individual must reschedule exam and submit new application and fees.
Letter of certification if home state does not participate with the NAIC Producer Database (PDB).
