Alcohol Customers at Membership Stores

Q. Is a membership required at wholesale stores like Sam's and Costco to purchase alcohol products?

A. No. Membership Store Licensees must allow the general public open and unrestricted access to the licensed premises to facilitate the purchase of alcoholic liquor at all times the establishment is open for business and as such, may not require the general public to obtain a special pass or temporary membership and may not utilize any other means that would hamper access to the licensed premises by the general public for the purchase of alcoholic liquor, subject to the provisions of the Michigan Liquor Control Code and Rules governing such sales.
