DECEMBER 8, 2009 - United States Gypsum Company's River Rouge Plant
will receive the CET Platinum Award for an outstanding safety and health record from the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA), on Friday, December 11, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., 10090 West Jefferson, in River Rouge.
The River Rouge plant has gone more than eight years without a lost-time accident.
The MIOSHA Consultation Education and Training (CET) Division recognizes the safety and health achievements of Michigan employers and employees through CET Awards, which are based on excellent safety and health performance. The CET Platinum Award recognizes a minimum of five years without a lost-time accident.
The MIOSHA program is part of the Michigan Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth (DELEG).
MIOSHA Deputy Director Martha Yoder will present the award to Matthew Craig, Plant Manager, and
John Fidrus, Safety Team President. Invited guests and U.S. Gypsum's 80 employees will attend the presentation and luncheon.
The River Rouge plant manufactures DUROCK™ cement board, a substrate backer, as well as bulk granular gypsum and stucco. United States Gypsum Company is a subsidiary of USG Corporation, and is North America's largest manufacturer and marketer of gypsum-based products.
