March 8, 2010 − The Michigan Commission for the Blind (MCB) will hold its regular board meeting on Friday, March 19, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., in Lansing in Conference Room A/B, third floor, in the Victor Building, 201 N. Washington Square (at Washington and Ottawa). The meeting is open to the public and will be of interest to people who are blind or visually impaired, their family members and friends, and anyone interested in learning more about the state- and federally funded services provided throughout the state by the Michigan Commission for the Blind.
Highlights of the Friday board meeting will include two guest speakers representing blind consumer organizations: Mr. Larry Posont, President, National Federation of the Blind of Michigan, from 10:30-11:15 a.m., and Mr. Joe Sibley, President, Michigan Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired, from 11:15 a.m. to noon. Commissioners will also receive an update at 1:15 p.m. on efforts to revise the agency's policies on clients pursuing college or other postsecondary opportunities. There will be three, 15-minute opportunities for public comment, at 10:15 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:15 p.m.

The meeting site is accessible. Individuals attending the meeting are requested to refrain from using heavily scented personal care products in order to enhance accessibility for everyone. The commission's five-member policy board, appointed by Governor Jennifer M. Granholm, oversees MCB programs throughout Michigan.
