FIB Appoints Assistant Director for Bank & Trust

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 12, 1998

Michigan Financial Institutions Bureau Deputy Commissioner Donald P. Mann today announced the appointment of William L. Pilkington as Assistant Director, Bank and Trust Division.

Mr. Pilkington has been a bank examiner with the bureau since 1982 and has extensive experience in financial analysis and risk management evaluation. He has worked in banking institutions of all sizes, and served as examiner in charge of Comerica Bank and NBD Bank.

In announcing the appointment, Mr. Mann noted the quality of Pilkington's experience and education. In addition to a degree in accounting from Wayne State University, Mr. Pilkington led the development of two Conference of State Bank Supervisors' training schools, and has been a frequent speaker for CSBS and various state banking departments. He has also taught at the Michigan Bankers Association Robert Perry Banking Schools.

"Bill's extensive examination experience, combined with his training ability, will be invaluable as he assumes responsibility for the day to day supervision and coordination of training for FIB's forty-five person bank examiner staff."

Mr. Pilkington and his family currently reside in the Detroit area.

The Michigan Financial Institutions Bureau is the primary regulator of Michigan's state-chartered banks, credit unions, savings banks, and over 4000 other licensed lenders.
