Lincoln Mutual Casualty Company to be Liquidated

Contact:  OFIS (Toll-free) 1-877-999-6442
Agency: Financial and Insurance Regulation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 29, 1997

LANSING — Ingham County Circuit Court Judge William E. Collette today ordered the liquidation of Lincoln Mutual Casualty Company. The order was pursued at the request of Acting Commissioner of Insurance Dominic A. D'Annunzio after it was determined that the company's surplus was substantially below the minimum required by law and that allowing the company to remain in business would be hazardous to its policyholders, creditors, and the public.

Under the order, all policies will continue in force for 30 days unless a policy expires, the insured replaces or terminates the coverage, or the business in transferred to another insurer.

Lincoln Mutual Casualty Company is located in Troy, Michigan, and has done business as a Michigan domiciled property and casualty insurer since 1925.

Policyholders of Lincoln Mutual should contact their agent to determine availability of coverage with another insurer.
