Agency: Licensing and Regulatory Affairs

DECEMBER 03, 2003 - The Michigan Department of Consumer & Industry Services (CIS) has summarily suspended the nursing license of Kathryn Parks Bartolo, R.N., due to her felony conviction in the 57th Judicial Circuit Court, Emmet County, Michigan. Bartolo failed to notify CIS of her conviction as required by the Public Health Code.

Bartolo previously had her license suspended in 1995 due to alcohol-related misdemeanor convictions. In 1996, Bartolo again had her license summarily suspended after she failed to comply with an order of the Board of Nursing.

On June 5, 2000, Bartolo was convicted of Controlled Substance – Delivery/Manufacture Marijuana and was sentenced to nine months in jail. Additionally, Bartolo was placed on probation for two years and was ordered to pay fines and costs totaling $560.00.

On November 24, 2003, CIS issued an order which summarily suspended Bartolo’s license pursuant to the Public Health Code, which provides for the mandatory summary suspension of a health professional upon the conviction on a felony. An administrative hearing will be scheduled to address the status of Bartolo’s nursing license.
