House Bill 4046

Contact:  Office of Policy and Legislative Affairs
Agency: Licensing and Regulatory Affairs

Summary

Sponsor: Representative Brewer
Topic: Pretending to be a State Agency
Committee: House Oversight and Operations

The bill prohibits a person from assuming, adopting or using the name of a state agency, a name resembling that of a state agency or a name that conveys the false impression that the person's business, products, services, or activities are connected with or endorsed, authorized or approved by a state agency without fair compensation. However, the prohibition would not apply if the state gave written permission to use its name without fair compensation.
