Code Books

Purchasing code books from the International Code Council (ICC)

The Bureau has coordinated the sale of the Michigan Building Code, Michigan Residential Code, Michigan Rehabilitation Code, Michigan Mechanical Code, Michigan Plumbing Code, Michigan Residential Code, Michigan Uniform Energy Code, and the National Electrical Code with the International Code Council (ICC). Customers will be able to purchase code books directly from ICC at the Michigan member prices indicated.

NOTE:  Beginning July 1, 2011, tax will be charged to all customers who have not submitted the proper paperwork indicating you are tax exempt. If your organization is exempt from paying sales tax, please send a signed, dated copy of your current certificate made out to the International Code Council. Send an email to taxexemptcert@iccsafe.org or fax to 708-799-4981. As part of its commitment to enhancing public safety, NFPA makes its codes and standards available online to the public for free. To get free online access to NFPA's National Electrical Code® and all NFPA standards, follow the instructions below.

  • To view the codes online, go to http://www.nfpa.org/.
  • Login to your account. If you do not have an account, you will need to create one.
  • Once logged in, click “CODES AND STANDARDS.”
  • Below “CODES & STANDARDS,” click List of NFPA codes & standards.
  • Click on the NFPA Code you wish to view.
  • Under View this Document, click Free Access.
