MCAC Termination Of Temporary Policy On Brief Extensions

Beginning March 1, 2008, the Michigan Compensation Appellate Commission will no longer grant an automatic 30 day extension of time for filing briefs.

As indicated in February of 2005 when the policy of granting automatic extensions was instituted, the policy was temporary .  We have now reduced the case backlog sufficiently, and no longer have a basis to delay the filings.

As indicated when the policy of granting automatic extensions was instituted, we are providing notice on our website of the termination of the temporary policy.

Automatic brief filing extensions will no longer be granted, effective March 1, 2008.  Brief extensions will continue to be granted for sufficient cause shown, upon filing of a timely motion.

The Commission will accept the following filings by e-mail through its website ( wcacinfo@michigan.gov ): regular correspondence, transcript extension requests, brief extension requests and other motions. All other filings must be by fax and/or mail, including claims for review, briefs and attachments.
