Student Activities and Sports

Swimming Pool at MCTI

MCTI's student activities program is operated by the Leisure Service Department. The majority of activities are coordinated by the Leisure Service staff; however, students are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents. The wide variety of activities helps students plan their after-school hours in a fun, rewarding, and productive manner.

Indoor and outdoor activities include:

  • Archery
  • Basketball
  • Bowling
  • Canoeing
  • Ceramics
  • Golfing
  • Fitness Training
  • Hiking
  • Leather craft
  • Music (guitar, piano)
  • Photography
  • Softball
  • Swimming (Olympic-size pool)
  • Skiing
  • Volleyball

Intramural leagues are formed for basketball, volleyball, softball, golf, archery, and bowling. Teams are usually formed from trade training areas or dormitory floors.

MCTI's 700 feet of accessible lakefront on Pine Lake provides opportunities for boating, canoeing, fishing, swimming, and leisurely pontoon rides.

Off-campus activities are also available. The Leisure Service staff take students to a wide variety of community events, including local festivals, parades, hockey games, basketball games, football games, and cultural activities. Students are also given the opportunity to participate in beach trips, bike trips, skiing activities, mall trips, and movie runs.

The Leisure Service building is open for student activities from 3:30 until 10:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. It is also open for eight hours each Saturday and Sunday, and on weekday holidays when school is in session.

The canteen area of the main building provides students with the opportunity to play pool, table tennis, and foosball during its open hours. There is also a large-screen television in this area for student use. Vending machines for coffee, soft drinks, and snacks are also located in the canteen.
