National & Michigan Practical ExaminationsBeginning in 2010, the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) will be administered in a computerized format. There will be 3 examination windows each year in which you may take the VTNE. More detailed information about the Computer Based VTNE is available at www.aavsb.org. You will still be required to apply for your Michigan license before being eligible to take the VTNE.
In order to take these examinations and become licensed in Michigan, an applicant must submit a license application to the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Bureau of Health Professions. Application packets can be downloaded from this website or email us at bhpinfo@michigan.gov or call (517) 335-0918 and at the prompts choose 2, 1 and 1 and leave a voicemail message with details of your request.
To be eligible for the examinations, the application, fee and required documentation must be received in the Application Section, Bureau of Health Professions by the deadline date indicated below. Please mail to:

The Bureau of Health Professions will mail out an admission letter for the Michigan examination to eligible candidates approximately 10 to 14 days before the exam. The admission letter will include information on the location and time of the exam along with a map, a brochure and any additional information needed.
Results are reported approximately 8-10 weeks following the examination date.
