Hot Weather Reminders

Picture of the sun

Summer in Michigan brings with it hot weather concerns for residents in our nursing homes. Although there are no explicit temperature standards for facilities certified on or before October 1, 1990, these facilities still must maintain safe and comfortable temperature levels. Facilities initially certified after October 1, 1990 must maintain a temperature range of 71 - 81° F. Further, pursuant to Minimum Design Standards, facilities constructed after 2002 must utilize air conditioning to maintain the facility temperature between 71º and 81º F.

The three hot weather reminders listed below will assist you in planning for and providing heat and humidity relief to our nursing home residents during Michigan summers.

Please take the time to review this information.
