Mini Adjustment Program in Jackson Aug. 28 - Sept. 2, 2005
This weeklong event in Jackson will provide Michigan Commission for the Blind (MCB) clients with training in a variety of skills of blindness, including cane travel, Braille, adaptive kitchen skills, dealing with time and money, and adaptive computer technology.

Sep 15 / 05"The Whirlpool of Information," A Workshop on Maximizing Capabilities If You're Blind or Visually Impaired, Ann Arbor, September 15, 2005
The Michigan Commission for the Blind is offering this sixth session of a seven-part workshop on how to accomplish various daily tasks, taught by certified Vision Rehabilitation Therapists. The September 15 workshop will cover techniques and resources for obtaining, saving, retrieving and controlling information.

Sponsored by American Indian Health & Family Services, the Diabetes Wellness Fair will be held at 4880 Lawndale, between Wyoming and Lonyo, in Detroit, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This is a family event including health screenings (blood sugar, blood pressure, etc.), informational speakers, exercise demonstrations, raffle prizes, healthy foods, ceremonial fire, and drum. The Michigan Commission for the Blind (MCB) will have a booth at the event to distribute information about MCB's free services.

This conference will provide nursing facility and home health clinicians with ethically based, effective care strategies to optimize quality of life and function in the lives of older adults they serve. It will be held at the Sheraton Lansing Hotel, 925 South Creyts Road, Lansing, Michigan. The conference is sponsored by Agility Health and Michigan State University's Geriatric Education Center of Michigan, with additional support from Trinity Continuing Care.
