In order to obtain a CPA certificate, candidates are required to have completed 1 year (2,000 hours) of qualifying experience under the direction and supervision of a licensed certified public accountant of this or another state including experience obtained in 1 financial audit within a period of not less than one calendar year or more than five calendar years. The experience must be earned in a CPA firm or governmental agency under the direction and supervision of a licensed CPA.
