Michigan State Hearing Aid Dealer Regulation

Hearing Aid Dealers are regulated under Article 13 of Public Act 299 of 1980, as amended. Article 13 defines hearing aid dealers to be a person who engages in the sale or offering for sale at retail of a hearing aid.

In addition to state licensing requirements, the FTC (US Federal Trade Commission) and the FDA (US Food and Drug Administration) are responsible for monitoring the business practice and manufacture of hearing aid dispensers and vendors.

The department currently oversees the practice of approximately 763 hearing aid dealers, salespersons and trainees.
