LANSING - Michigan Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation (OFIR) Commissioner Kevin Clinton today announced that The Huntington National Bank of Columbus, Ohio has acquired all of the deposits and essentially all of the assets of Fidelity Bank in Dearborn, MI.

"Under this agreement, Fidelity's customers will have uninterrupted access to their accounts and experience a seamless transition to Huntington Bank," Clinton said.

The offices of the former Fidelity Bank will be open for business on Saturday, March 31, 2012, as branches of The Huntington National Bank.  Customers of Fidelity Bank should continue to use their current branch location until they receive notice from The Huntington National Bank that it has completed systems changes to allow other Huntington branches to process their accounts as well.  Checks drawn on Fidelity Bank will continue to be processed.  Loan customers should continue to make their payments as usual.

As of December 31, 2011, Fidelity Bank reported $818.2 million in total assets and $747.6 million in total deposits.

Fidelity Bank was wholly owned by Dearborn Bancorp Inc., and operated branches in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, and Washtenaw Counties.  The bank opened in 1994 and was closed today after the Ingham County Circuit Court granted the Commissioner's petition to appoint the FDIC as receiver.

Customers with questions about today's transaction may call the FDIC toll-free at 800-523-8177.  The phone number will be operational this evening until 9:00 p.m., Eastern Daylight Time (EDT); on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., EDT; on Sunday from noon to 6:00 p.m., EDT; and thereafter from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., EDT.  Depositors who have questions may call their local branch office during normal business hours or Huntington at 866-375-6502.
