MPSC Approves Two Settlement Agreements Authorizing $537,100 Refund to Michigan Gas Utilities Customers and Reconciling 2012 Decoupling Mechanism

September 24, 2013 –The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today approved two settlement agreements with Michigan Gas Utilities Corporation (MGU). In Case No. U-17221, the MPSC approved a settlement authorizing the utility to reconcile its revenue decoupling mechanism for 2012. Residential customers using 100 ccf of natural gas a month will see a decrease of 12 cents on their monthly bill beginning in October and ending in September 2014. The utility and the MPSC staff participated in the settlement. Under the terms of the settlement in Case No. U-17222, MGU customers will see a refund of $537,134 as a result of the utility’s reconciliation of its 2012 uncollectibles expense tracking mechanism. A residential customer using 100 ccf of natural gas will see a decrease on their monthly bill of 30 cents beginning in October and ending September 2014.
