MPSC Approves Renewable Energy Plan for Glacial Energy of Illinois, Inc.

The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today approved the renewable energy plan of Glacial Energy of Illinois, Inc., an alternative electric supplier.  The company was formerly known as Glacial Energy of Michigan, Inc.

The company will meet the renewable energy portfolio requirements by acquiring renewable energy credits, renewable energy, or a combination of both.  These purchases will be made through bilateral contracts with suppliers of renewable energy resources or through others that transact in such resources.  It will calculate its renewable energy portfolio requirement using weather-normalization of the retail electric customers' load from the previous year.

In today's order, the MPSC said that the company's renewable energy plan complies with the requirements of Public Act 295 and the temporary order in Case No. U-15800.

The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth.
