MPSC Approves Settlement Agreement on Wisconsin Public Service Corporation's 2012-2013 Energy Optimization Plan
Contact: Judy Palnau, 517-241-3323 Agency: Michigan Public Service CommissionDecember 6, 2011 - The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today approved a settlement agreement dealing with the 2012-2013 energy optimization (EO) plan for Wisconsin Public Service Corporation.
Under the terms of the settlement, the utility's EO plan was found reasonable and meets the requirements of Public Act 295. In connection with electric service, it will pay the independent EO program administrator $381,401 for 2012 and $412,024 for 2013. In connection for natural gas service the company will pay the independent EO program administrator $91,685 for 2012 and $104,079 for 2013. The utility is authorized to charge EO surcharges beginning with the first billing cycle of 2012.
A residential electric customer using 500 kilowatt-hours a month will see an increase of 30 cents on their monthly bill, while a residential natural gas customer using 100 hundred cubic feet will see a decrease of 21 cents on their monthly bill, starting in January 2012.
The utility and the MPSC staff participated in the settlement.
The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
