MPSC Approves Settlement Agreement Reconciling Detroit Edison Company's Choice Implementation Surcharge

January 26, 2012 - The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today approved a settlement agreement authorizing Detroit Edison Company to reconcile its choice implementation surcharge.

Under the terms of the settlement, the utility will refund its $2,555,953 over-collection to customers on a bills rendered basis, effective with the February 2012 billing cycle.  A customer using 500 kWh of electricity a month will see a one-time credit of 37 cents on their monthly bill.

The utility, MPSC staff and Energy Michigan, Inc. participated in the settlement.

The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
