Contact:  Judy Palnau, 517-241-3323
Agency:  Michigan Public Service Commission

March 28, 2012 - The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today directed Champion's Auto Ferry, Inc. to keep its current rates in effect until further order of the Commission.

The company on March 1 filed a tariff with the MPSC requesting a $1 rate increase on most of its scheduled fares for ferry service between Harsens Island and Algonac, effective May 1.

The MPSC will hold an evidentiary hearing on the proposed rate increase at 9 a.m. on April 10 in Constitution Hall in Lansing.  The evidentiary hearing will allow the MPSC to investigate whether the company's proposed rate increase is justified.

The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
