The bill amends the Liquor Control Code of 1998 by deleting the prohibition against an individual, partnership, limited partnership, limited liability company, corporation, or any combination thereof, receiving more than one license under Section 521 of the Code. This section authorizes the Commission to grant up to 50 tavern or Class C licenses to persons who operate qualified businesses located in certain development districts. Development districts are entities created under various economic development laws, such as the Tax Increment Financing Act. These licenses are limited by the Code to development districts in cities with a population of 50,000 or less.
The bill states that a license may be issued to an individual, partnership, limited partnership, limited liability company, corporation, or any combination thereof, which already has a license in a particular development district as long as the licensed activity is in a different development district. Transfer of ownership or location would be allowed only within the particular development district in which the license was originally granted.
