  • Connie Ennis The Senior Blind Program (Independent Living Program)

    The Independent Living (IL) Program of Michigan's Bureau of Services for Blind Persons is a federal-state partnership providing services to Michigan residents age 55 and older who are visually impaired. Program participants are individuals whose severe visual impairment makes competitive employment extremely difficult to attain but for whom goals related to more independent living are feasible.

  • Success Story: Mamie Louisa Moore

    Mamie Louisa Moore is a professional seamstress who lost her vision due to glaucoma. She received training and developed new skills that have allowed her to live independently in her home and community--and to return to sewing.
