  • How can we work together to solve this problem?

  • A Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Program model to assess the child's level of fire interest and provide early intervention has been developed by the United States Fire Administration.  A Juvenile Firesetter Resource Network was created to enable anyone to access appropriate intervention services.

    Intervention Includes:

·Assessment interviews of both the parent and the child to determine child's level of interest in fire

·Providing the curiosity firesetter with fire safety education

·Referring child/family to appropriate mental health or social service agencies for professional services

·Working with criminal justice agencies to hold youth accountable

·Working with community to provide multi-agency intervention.

If you are aware of a child in need of intervention
    contact your local fire department

    or

    Call 1-800-442-7766
