Classes Offered

• Travel Skills (Orientation & Mobility) In the Travel Skills Class, sometimes called Orientation and Mobility, people who are blind and visually impaired learn how to move about safely and independently.

• Communications Students learn to use the tools, techniques and strategies needed for quick, easy and efficient communication.

Cooking class at MCB Training CenterAdaptive Kitchen Skills Students prepare their favorite foods using adaptive techniques for safety and independence in the kitchen.

• Recreational Activities The recreation component of the BSBP Training Center program is designed to show people that a wide range of enjoyable recreational activities are still available to them despite their loss of vision.

Mini Adjustment Seminars

• Mini Adjustment Program Overview Separate from the on-site BSBP Training Center courses, the week-long Mini Adjustment Programs are provided by Training Center staff at various locations around the state. The Mini Adjustment Programs provide an introduction to skills of blindness and services provided by the (Michigan) Bureau of Services for Blind Persons and other organizations.

• Mini Adjustment Program Eligibility To be eligible for the Mini Adjustment Program, a person must be a client of the (Michigan) Bureau of Services for Blind Persons and be referred by Bureau staff.
