Michigan Child Care Matters

Michigan Child Care Matters shares topical information regarding young children who are cared for in licensed child care settings with the child care community, parents and other interested persons. The Child Care Licensing Division (CCLD) encourages child care providers to make this publication available to the parents of the children in care or to provide them with our internet address so they may view it online.

CCLD has now developed tests based on the content of each issue of MCCM. To receive one clock hour of annual training, you must read all of the home- or center-related articles in three different issues of MCCM and pass the tests associated with those issues during that calendar year. You must maintain your own documentation that you passed by printing a copy of the test results page or the certificate for each test you pass for your records. You must receive an 80 percent or higher on the test to pass. You can only take a test two times. If you do not pass a test the second time, you will not get credit for that issue of MCCM. Only one clock hour of your annual training requirements each year can be earned by reading issues of MCCM.

The tests are available at the links below. When taking a test, you will need an access code. To obtain an access code, just email Corey Woodby (WoodbyC@michigan.gov) with your name and license number. He will send you the access code.

Note: Each individual wishing to receive annual training hours for reading issues of MCCM must have their own access code. Home providers with assistants and center providers can obtain access codes for all their staff by sending staff names in one email.

The Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers were revised effective January 2, 2014. Issues of MCCM released prior to Issue 98 reference requirements of the old rules. The center quizzes for issues 93-97 do not ask questions about center licensing rules that were modified.
