The Michigan Collection

The Library of Michigan’s Michigan Collection consists of current and historical materials that tell the story of our state, covering the full spectrum of the Michigan cultural experience, including local history, the lumber, mining, and auto industries, lighthouses, sports, shipwrecks, fiction, and much more.

With the announced transfer of the Genealogy Collection to the Archives of Michigan, the Library’s stated emphasis on Michigan and its historical experience will continue with the availability of the following:

Michigan newspapers
Michigan city directories
Michigan state, county, & local histories
Michigan vital records
U.S. Census (All states)
Michigan cemetery transcriptions
Michigan plat books & atlases
