2017 Night for Notables

Night for Notables celebrates the honored books and authors of the 2017 Michigan Notable Books program.

Michigan Notable Books is a yearly program of the Library of Michigan that recognizes and honors 20 exceptional books published in the past year that are set in Michigan, have a Michigan theme or are written by a Michigan resident. The Library of Michigan coordinates a committee of librarians, booksellers, authors, reviewers, historian and editors who review hundreds of titles each year and select 20 quality titles that best capture Michigan’s varied heritage and have a broad public appeal.

This year, Night for Notables will occur on Saturday evening, April 1, 2017 at Lansing’s Michigan Libray and Historical Center. Night for Notables applauds the fine work of Michigan’s writing community. It is an opportunity to meet talk with and hear from remarkable authors about their work and discuss with other booklover’s a shared joy in reading great books!

From 5:30 to 8:30 guests will enjoy an array of delicious hors d’oeuvres, wine and beers of Michigan. As an added treat, the program’s keynote speaker is the famous Thomas Lynch, well known throughout Michigan’s vast writing community and across the country from many appearances on national public, cable and network television stations and radio. Mr. Lynch has been described as a cross between Garrison Keillor and W.B. Yeats. Thomas Lynch is an American poet, essayist, and undertaker in Milford, Michigan. What an evening it will be!
