LANSING, April 16, 2008 - A longtime Lottery
player, who goes by "Pops", won $10,004 playing Club Keno!
The lucky Ionia winner matched all eight
numbers in an 8-Spot game and added $4 after matching four numbers twice.
He said the winning ticket was safely stored in
his wallet until claiming the prize at the Lottery's Lansing office. He plans to
use the prize money to pay bills.
The winning ticket was purchased at Renucci's
Bar, 540 N. State St., in Ionia.
Club Keno offers 37 different ways to play and
win. Players can wager $1, $2, $3, $4, $5, $10 or $20 per drawing and tickets
can be purchased for up to 20 drawings at a time. Players win Club Keno by
matching some or all of the numbers they have selected to the numbers drawn. The
more numbers matched, the more the player wins.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery
tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state
School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year
2007, the contribution to schools was $748.9 million. Since its inception in
1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.3 billion to education in
Michigan.
