Partnership brings the Lottery to the Detroit Metropolitan Airport

LANSING, July 13, 2011 - Travelers to and from Michigan now have the opportunity to purchase and redeem Lottery tickets in both terminals at Detroit Metro Airport. An agreement between the Michigan Lottery and the Wayne County Airport Authority means all Lottery products, including online games, instant tickets and Club Games, are available at selected bars and restaurants throughout the McNamara and North Terminals.

‘Lottery to Go' vending machines, from which players can purchase Michigan Lottery Instant tickets and all online games, are positioned throughout the North Terminal, including two in baggage claim, one in the ground transport area, one on the pedestrian bridge, one in the vending machine/shoeshine area at Gate D-18, and two in wall units located near Gates D-10 and D-23.

Additionally, Lottery retailers, from whom players can buy Lottery games like Mega Millions, Powerball, Classic Lotto 47, Fantasy 5, Club Keno, Keno!, Lucky Lines, Raffle tickets and the Daily 3 & 4 games are located at Legends Bar in baggage claim, Chammps near Gate D-8, and TGI Fridays near Gate D-18.

In the McNamara Terminal, players will be able to purchased tickets at Waterworks Bar near Gate A-8; On Line Café near Gate A-36; the Heineken Bar near Gate A-74; Fox Skybox Sport Bar near the security checkpoints; and the Jose Cuervo Tequileria near Gate A-66.

"We couldn't be more pleased with the partnership formed with the airport authority," said Lottery Commissioner M. Scott Bowen. "For years players have been asking us if they can play the Lottery at the airport and today we can answer with a definitive yes."

Players will also be able to claim prizes on winning tickets at specific redemption areas in the North Terminal and at any Lottery retailer location within the McNamara Terminal, making Lottery play easy for out-of-state travelers.

Over 94 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2010, the contribution to schools was $701.3 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $15 billion to education in Michigan.

"The Michigan Lottery. All across the state good things happen."
