LANSING, March 28, 2001 – Ila Wiechert of Bay Port recently experienced the excitement of winning big when she matched all five numbers in the March 22 Michigan Rolldown drawing to win two shares of the jackpot! The other three jackpot winners have not yet come forward to claim their prize. That day’s winning numbers were: 2, 10, 20, 22, and 33.
The total jackpot prize pool for the March 22 drawing was $18,985, so each jackpot winner received $3,797, before taxes. Wiechert won two shares of the jackpot, collecting $7,594. In total for the March 22 Michigan Rolldown drawing, 20,356 winners shared $64,236 in prizes. In addition to the jackpot winners, there were 71 winners who matched four numbers for a prize of $109; 2,154 winners who matched three numbers for a prize of $9; and 18,126 winners who matched two numbers for the $1 prize.
The 40-year-old winner purchased two lucky Michigan Rolldown tickets at Mr. Chips Food Store, 580 Unionville Road, in Sebewaing.
Wiechert, an employee at Kmart, said she learned she had a winning ticket after watching the Michigan Rolldown drawing on television. "I was watching the drawing with my son and screamed with excitement when I saw that I had won!" she said. "I told my husband right away that I won!"
Prior to claiming her prize at the Lottery’s regional office in Bridgeport, Wiechert said she kept both tickets with her at all times for safekeeping.
The lucky lady plans to use part of her winnings to pay for her daughter’s wedding and share the rest with her family.
Michigan Rolldown’s first drawing was held Monday, February 28, 2000. Drawings are conducted six days a week ¾ Monday through Saturday ¾ at 7:28 p.m., and the cost to play is $1 per wager. Tickets are available at more than 6,400 Lottery retailers statewide.
