LANSING, February 21, 2001 – Michael Denman of Stanton recently discovered what it feels like to have a truly lucky day after scratching off a Michigan Lottery "Amazin’ Eights" instant ticket worth $250,000!
"I purchased the lucky ticket on the way home from work," Denman said. "I scratched it off as soon as I got home. When I first looked at it I thought I won $25,000. I then took my glasses off and looked at the ticket again only to discover that there was another zero on there and I had won $250,000. I was so surprised that I started shaking! I still can’t believe I won."
The 53-year-old, who owns M & M Wrecker Service, purchased the winning "Amazin’ Eights" instant ticket at Stanton Mobil Mart, 319 W. Main St., in Stanton. Prior to turning the winning ticket in at Lottery headquarters in Lansing, the winner said he kept it in a plastic bag under his mattress to ensure its safety!
The lucky man, who has been actively participating in stock-car racing for the past 32 years, said he plans to use part of his winnings to pay bills, take a vacation with his wife, Mary, and save the rest for his upcoming retirement.
Michigan Lottery instant tickets are available at more than 9,300 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
