Millionaire Raffle $1,000,000 Winner David Wilson

LANSING, January 10, 2007 - David Wilson "went numb" when he discovered he had won $1 million!

The lucky Parma man claimed his prize today at Lottery Central in Lansing after his number was drawn in the Jan. 3 Millionaire Raffle.

Wilson said his father called after the Raffle drawing to remind him to check his tickets and when he and his family discovered their ticket was a big winner, his wife and daughter "jumped up and down and screamed!"

The winner and his family plan to use the money to pay bills and invest for the future.  His wife will also be getting the Dodge Magnum she's had her eye on.

The ticket was purchased at Ground Round Grill and Bar, 1051 Boardman Rd., in Jackson.

The Millionaire Raffle is a Lottery game like you've never played before!  A limited number of tickets, only 500,000, were sold at all Lottery terminals across Michigan beginning November 12, 2006.  Each ticket sold contained a unique six-digit number from 000001 to 500000.  In a single drawing which was held on Jan. 3, 765 raffle tickets were randomly selected to win the following great prizes:

  • 5 grand prizes of $1,000,000 each (annuitized over 20 years or cash payment)
  • 10 prizes of $100,000 each
  • 750 prizes of $1,000 each

The Millionaire Raffle offered players the best chance ever to win $1,000,000.  With odds of just 1 in 100,000 that a player will become one of five new millionaires, it's the most $1,000,000 prizes ever awarded in a Michigan Lottery game!

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million.
