LANSING, August 23, 2001 – One lucky Michigan Lottery player recently told
Lottery officials he gets a lot of laughs when he tells people he lives in Hell,
Michigan. Living in Hell just got a lot cooler for Kevin Nagle, thanks to
the cold hard cash he recently won in the Michigan Lottery’s Big Game! Nagle
matched the first five numbers in the August 14, 2001 drawing to win a $150,000
prize! That day’s winning numbers were: 1, 22, 27, 28, 35 and the Big Money
Ball number was 26.
"I only play Michigan Lottery games occasionally, so I didn’t expect
to win," Nagle said. "At first I thought I had won $500. When I saw
the winning numbers in the newspaper and realized I won $150,000, all I could
say was, ‘Wow!’"
Nagle, 35, purchased the winning Big Game "easy pick" ticket at
New Hudson Food Market, 56320 Grand River Ave., in New
Hudson.
Once the lucky man realized he had a winning ticket, he tucked it safely in
his wallet and traveled straight to Lottery headquarters in Lansing to collect
his winnings.
Nagle, a self-employed stone mason who enjoys watching sports and playing
soccer in his free time, said he plans to use part of his winnings to pay bills
and invest the rest.
The Big Game is a multistate lottery game in Michigan, Georgia, Illinois,
Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Virginia. Wagers cost $1 each and
tickets may be purchased at more than 7,000 Michigan Lottery retailers
statewide.
Big Game drawings are conducted every Tuesday and Friday at 11:00 p.m. The
next Big Game drawing is Friday, August 24, with an expected jackpot of $74
million.
