LANSING, September 3, 2002 – Michigan Lottery
players will have cause to celebrate this fall with the introduction of the
Lottery’s newest $20 instant game, "$2,000,000 Celebration," which
hits ticket counters statewide on September 5.
The "$2,000,000 Celebration" game is
different from other Michigan Lottery instant games that have been offered in
the past because the $2,000,000 top prize will be awarded through a drawing. The
top-prize winning ticket will be drawn from the pool of players who claim $1,000
prizes in the "$2,000,000 Celebration" game.
This new game offers over 2,000 prizes of $1,000,
and the odds of winning the $1,000 prize are a mere 1 in 852! Winners of $1,000
will be automatically entered into the $2,000,000 top prize drawing after their
ticket has been presented to and validated by a Lottery office or licensed
Lottery claim center. The grand prize drawing will be held on January 31, 2003,
and $1,000 winning tickets must be presented at a Lottery office or licensed
claim center at least seven calendar days prior to the drawing to be eligible.
"The Michigan Lottery is very excited to
offer such a unique game to our players," Acting Lottery Commissioner James
Kipp said. "I am sure players will be very excited about this new game
because it offers so many different chances to win and a great top prize!"
There are cash prizes totaling more than $27
million available in this new game, players can win up
to 27 times on each ticket and the overall odds of winning a cash prize are just
1 in 2.25. The introduction of the "$2,000,000 Celebration" instant
game will be supported by statewide radio advertising as well as in-store
promotional materials.
