LANSING, February 2, 2004 – The Michigan Lottery has completed its first bonus drawing for its “Detroit Pistons” instant game, and is proud to announce that Hanna Musallam of Chesterfield Township is the grand-prize winner of an NBA Winner’s Choice Dream Trip!

Lottery officials were able to speak to the winner following the drawing.

“This is so cool,” Musallam said. “I am very excited!”

The 49-year-old winner said he has been a regular Michigan Lottery player for the past 20 years.  The lucky man’s winning entry included non-winning “Detroit Pistons” instant tickets purchased at Geno’s Market Inc., 45935 Jefferson Ave., in New Baltimore. Additionally, he offered the following words of encouragement to other Lottery hopefuls: “Just keep trying – someday you will win!”

Musallam will have the option to choose either a Home Game Getaway or a Road Trip Getaway prize.  The Home Game Getaway trip includes the following: one room for one night in a first-class hotel; dinner for two at a first-class restaurant; two courtside seats (including event parking); $300 in gift certificates to be redeemed at the arena gift shop and $1,500 spending money.  The Road Trip Getaway trip includes the following: round-trip airfare for two; one room for two nights at a first-class hotel; transportation to and from airport to hotel and hotel to game; dinner for two at a first-class restaurant; two tickets to the game and $1,000 spending money.  Winners must use trip during the 2003-2004 or 2004-2005 regular basketball seasons.  Playoff games are not eligible.

In addition to the trip mentioned above, the Lottery gave away 200 NBA/Detroit Pistons merchandise prize packs, each consisting of one each of the following NBA/Detroit Pistons branded merchandise: jersey, jacket, schedule watch, basketball, duffel bag, wall clock, blanket/throw, baseball cap, bench towel and T-shirt.  A complete list of winners is available on the Lottery’s Web site at www.michigan.gov/lottery.

To enter the second-chance sweepstakes, players simply mail in two non-winning “Detroit Pistons” instant game tickets as per the instructions displayed on the ticket back, along with legible name, address and daytime telephone number to:

Players can also enter the “Detroit Pistons” bonus drawings via the Internet at www.michigan.gov/lottery.  Upon reaching the site, simply click on the “Pistons Bonus Drawing Entries” link.  Instructions for how to enter the non-winning “Detroit Pistons” tickets online will be provided on the site.  Players can enter the drawings as many times as they wish, but any ticket may only be entered once.  Players who enter online must keep their non-winning “Detroit Pistons” tickets, as they will be required to send them in for verification before a prize can be claimed.

Players may enter as many times as they like, but entries are limited to one entry per envelope and one name per entry is allowed.  The remaining “Detroit Pistons” bonus drawings will take place on February 27, 2004; April 9, 2004 and June 4, 2004.
