LANSING, January 13, 2012 - Randel Cranmer matched all five white ball numbers on the April 26, 2011 Mega Millions drawing to win a $250,000 prize!
The DeWitt Township resident had a pile of Lottery tickets in his vehicle, which he removed and handed to his wife before he got new tires put on his vehicle and told her to check for any winning tickets. She did just that and discovered that her husband's ticket had all five white ball numbers! She was very excited and had Randel double check the numbers; which he did and that's when they both realized the value of his ticket.
Cranmer and his wife plan on living off their prize for a few years and putting most of it away for retirement.
The winning easy-pick ticket was purchased at Meijer #209, 12821 Crossover Dr., in DeWitt.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2011, the contribution to schools was over $717 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed over $16 billion to education in Michigan.
