LANSING, February 2, 2012 - The always-popular Cashword game is taking on a new twist!

Beginning this week, Lottery players can purchase the new $3 instant ticket - $100,000 Cashword. This game offers over $28 million in total cash prizes which includes top prizes of $100,000!  But players can now take that $100,000 Cashword ticket one step further and play an interactive second chance game with their non-winning tickets!

To play the second chance game, players can either go to
MyMICashword.com or download the MyMICashword app and play on their mobile device. Prizes in the second chance game include Player's Club Rewards Points, good for redemption on rewards and entries into drawings, and Michigan Lottery coupons valued at between $2 and $20 off future ticket instant ticket purchases.

"Cashword has long been a popular mainstay with our players and they know the game well," said Lottery Commissioner Scott Bowen. "This interactive component is taking a great game one step further and providing more chances to win prizes."

In February, players will see an interactive component to another staple game, Bingo.

"There is no question that many Michigan Lottery players are tuned into the most popular technologies of the day, such as the Internet and smartphones. We want to not only make participating in Lottery play easier for them, but also to offer more than just cash prizes on more of our games," Bowen said.

Players are also reminded that they can enter their non-winning $100,000 Cashword tickets, and other non-winning instants and terminal-based games, such as Mega Millions and Powerball, into the Play It Again second chance opportunity. To submit tickets, players must join the Lottery's free loyalty program, Player's Club, at
 www.michiganlottery.com.

Bowen also reminds players that there is a wealth of information about all things Lottery at the Web site.
"Players can find out everything they want to know about the Lottery at the site, including how to receive text alerts of winning numbers, how to enter other second chance drawings, and how to play all of our games," he said.

Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2010, the contribution to schools was $727.3 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $16 billion to education in Michigan.
