Michigan Lottery Fast Facts

The Michigan Lottery reported annual sales of $2.4 billion in fiscal 2012, and generated $770 million in net revenue for the state School Aid Fund, which supports public education programs throughout the state.  Retailers received annual commissions of $172.1 million, while Michigan Lottery players collected prizes worth $1.36 billion.

Largest Jackpots Awarded in Michigan 
$208,000,000  The largest jackpot in Michigan Lottery history was won by a Port Huron couple, Ralph and Mary Stebbins, on April 22, 2005.  The advertised jackpot was $205,000,000, but high tickets sales raised the amount to $208,000,000.
$181,500,000  The Big Game set the record for the largest jackpot in North American history on May 9, 2000 when it reached $363,000,000.  Larry Ross of Shelby Township won half of that jackpot, as he was one of the two winning ticket holders for the May 9, 2000 Big Game drawing.
$141,000,000  Steve Mays of Gladstone became the Upper Peninsula's first multi-state jackpot winner on October 29, 2010, with a lucky Mega Millions ticket.



Highest Payouts in Michigan Lottery History 
Daily 3 $4,965,980 on June 10, 1986 for the number 123 - 489% of the amount wagered that day.
Daily 4 $21,660,452 on January 29, 2010 for the number 1010 - 3,371.4% of the amount wagered that day.
Michigan Lotto $48,785,500 on February 25, 1995 (total jackpot, plus prizes for matching 4 and 5 numbers).
Mega Millions $208,863,361 on April 22, 2005 (total jackpot plus all individual prizes ranging from $2 to $250,000).
