LANSING, October 29, 2001 – "Dave and Harry’s Betting Club" lottery club of Glenshaw, Pennsylvania drove all the way to Michigan to buy a ticket for the August 28 Big Game drawing. The announced jackpot for that drawing was $90 million. While they didn’t win the jackpot, the trip was still worth it, as they matched the first five numbers in the August 28 drawing to win a $150,000 prize! The winning numbers for that drawing were: 10, 29, 39, 47, 50 and the Big Money Ball number was 35.

"Dave and Harry’s Betting Club," which consists of two friends who work together at All Foreign Auto Parts, includes:

    • Dave Curley of Glenshaw, PA
    • Harry Mitchell of Pittsburgh, PA

The two friends, who have been playing the Michigan Lottery’s Big Game for about five years, purchased the winning ticket at Buddy’s Mini-Mart #25, 7386 Secor Road, in Lambertville. Both winners said they were very excited about winning.

"We called the Michigan Lottery’s Lottery Link hotline (1-800-822-8888) to get the winning numbers, but we still did not know how much we had won," said Curley, the club’s representative. "I asked my son to look up the winning numbers on the Lottery’s Web site (www.state.mi.us/milottery), and I called a friend who lives in Michigan to verify the winning numbers for us. When we learned that the prize was $150,000, we were both shocked and excited!"

Curley said he placed the lucky Big Game "easy-pick" ticket on the front of his refrigerator so he would know where it was at all times. The lucky men said they plan on "spending their winnings." Mitchell plans to buy a Corvette, and Curley said he plans to "spend it and have a good time!"

"This money is a windfall, so we both plan to have a lot of fun spending it," said Curley. "It is found money – money we never dreamed of winning!"

The Big Game is a multistate lottery game in Michigan, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Virginia. Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at more than 7,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

Big Game drawings are conducted every Tuesday and Friday at 11:00 p.m. The next Big Game drawing is Tuesday, October 29, with an expected jackpot of $11 million.
