The Unadilla Township Police Department is accepting applications for part-time police officer positions. Prior law enforcement road patrol experience is preferred. The applicant must have good interpersonal and public relation skills and be able to work a variety of shifts including holidays and weekends.

REQUIREMENTS:

The applicant must also meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Be a United States Citizen
  • Be 21 years of age
  • Possess a valid Michigan driver’s license with good driving history
  • MCOLES licensed or have successfully completed the MCOLES Recognition of Prior Training and Experience
  • Possess an Associate degree or higher in criminal justice or related field from an accredited college
  • Successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation, medical examination and drug screen.
  • No felony convictions (including expunged records or convictions under YTA etc.)
  • Must have good moral character
  • Must have basic computer skills

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform routine patrol / shift duties / taking and responding to calls for service
  • Enforce all Federal and State of Michigan Laws, as well as Township Ordinances
  • Conduct Criminal Investigations
  • Enforces traffic laws and conducts traffic related investigations
  • Makes arrests and interviews persons / subjects
  • Effectively communicates verbally and in writing – capable of preparing police reports, citations, search warrants, and warrant requests
  • Operate desktop and patrol car computer software

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Officers are expected to patrol by foot and in a motor vehicle, and usually patrol alone. Duties include directing traffic and providing physical assistance in emergency situations.  Must be comfortable working in a rural, small town setting.  Officers are expected to work nights, weekends and holidays, and shifts may vary from 8 to 12 hours.
