The Genesee Township Police Department is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Part-Time Police Officer.  Prior police experience is not required, but preferred.  Positions available include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Regularly Scheduled 24-30 Hour Per Week
  • As Needed (40 Hours Per Month) 

The Charter Township of Genesee is located in Genesee County and borders the City of Flint, City of Burton, Mount Morris and Richfield Township.  Genesee Township is approximately 28.5 square miles and serves a population of 21,500 residents.  This department routinely responds to over 10,000 calls for service annually.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform responsible law enforcement duties which includes but not limited to the enforcement of all laws and ordinances, prevention, detection and investigations of crime, and traffic accidents.  The apprehension of violators, the preservation of order, and any other related police functions as directed by supervisory personnel. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Be 21 years of age
  • High school graduate or equivalency
  • No prior felony convictions
  • Possess a valid State of Michigan operator’s license
  • Be a MCOLES licensed or licensable police officer
  • Be a United States citizen
  • Successfully complete all phases in the background hiring process
  • Meet all MCOLES employment standards

WAGES AND BENEFITS
***  Applicants MAY immediately qualify for THIRD YEAR pay rate depending upon prior law enforcement experience and training.

FIELD TRAINING:  $11.37
START:   $14.21 
ONE (1) YEAR:  $14.92
THREE (3) YEAR:  $16.44 ***
SEVEN (7) YEAR:  $19.01
