The Muskegon Township Police Department is currently accepting pre-employment applications for part-time police officer positions. The Muskegon Township Police Department consists of 17 sworn police officer positions and 2 clerical position. The Muskegon Township Police Department services approximately 18,000 residents and handles about 10,000 calls for service, each year. Within our community, we have two large public school systems with over 6,000 students, combined. The Reeths-Puffer and Orchard View school systems are both K-12 education systems. Muskegon Township is the oldest Township in the State of Michigan. It was created by the State Legislature in 1837 and included parts of what is now Ottawa and Oceana Counties. The Township is divided by the Muskegon River basin with about one-third of the Township North of the river and two-thirds to the South. It also provides a full range of services including Fire, Police, Water, Sewer, Parks and Recreation, Sanitation and Highway Departments.

MINIMUN REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 2 year Associates Degree in Criminal Justice or related field is required. MCOLES licensed or licensable. Applications accepted if you are in an approved academy. No felony arrest or convictions. Valid Michigan driver's license with good driving history. Pass a background investigation. Pass physical, physiological and drug exam.
