Learn and Serve - Michigan logo Learn and Serve - Michigan Community-Based Organization funds are granted to local organizations (not schools - click here for Learn and Serve - Michigan funding for schools ) to engage young people in volunteerism while helping them achieve educational goals.

Funding is granted in three-year cycles with renewal funding based upon successful completion of annual goals.  Learn and Serve - Michigan Community-Based Organization grants traditionally range from $8,000 to $15,000 and require a dollar for dollar match.  The application process includes the following:

  1. The potential grantee submits an Intent To Apply Form.
  2. The potential grantee submits a Comprehensive Proposal.
  3. The proposals are reviewed by a peer review panel and the MCSC staff.  Following the reviews, the staff makes funding recommendations to the MCSC commissioners.
  4. All grants are approved by the MCSC commissioners.
