26	NATIONAL MENTORING LEADER RETURNS HOME TO LANSING Local Hero to Receive President's Volunteer Service Award On October 24th, Lansing native and nationally renowned mentoring leader, DeVone Boggan, is addressing a capacity crowd at 12:15 p.m. at the Mentor Michigan Conference at the Holiday Inn West in Lansing. Also at the conference, David Eisner, President and CEO of the Corporation for National and Community Service, is presenting Michigan State University graduate student, Carlas ?CJ" Quinney, with a President's Volunteer Service Award for his work with mentoring youth.
08	Mulhern and Asch Prepare 450 AmeriCorps Members to Serve in Local Communities Statewide First Gentleman Daniel G. Mulhern and Chris Myers Asch, AmeriCorps alumni and founder of the U.S. Public Service Academy, will help prepare more than 450 AmeriCorps members from across the state to serve their local communities. The 2007 Michigan's AmeriCorps Celebration, hosted by the Michigan Community Service Commission, provides training for AmeriCorps members as they begin a year of service.
