| 30 | Third Annual Lloyd Carr MVP Mentoring Awards Honor Four Michigan Youth
For the third year in a row, four extraordinary Michigan youth will be honored with the Lloyd Carr MVP Mentoring Awards. Mentor Michigan and former University of Michigan head football coach Lloyd Carr present the awards annually to youths who best exemplify the extraordinary benefits of a mentoring relationship. Each winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship, courtesy of Mentor Michigan, to attend college or a trade school. An awards ceremony, hosted by Coach Carr, will be held on the campus of the University of Michigan on Monday, January 30, 2012.
 | | 20 | State Mentoring Programs Celebrate Impact of Mentoring at Capitol On Friday, January 20, 2012, mentoring programs from across Michigan came together for a special mentoring celebration at the state Capitol. The event, organized by the leading resource for state mentoring programs, Mentor Michigan, is just one of the many festivities which commemorate Michigan Mentoring Month this January. Joining in the Mentoring Day at the Capitol celebration were special guests, Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley and his wife, Julie Calley, who expressed their sincere interest in and dedication to the Michigan mentoring movement.
 | | 17 | Nominations Sought for 2012 Governor's Service Awards The Michigan Community Service Commission is pleased to announce that nominations are now being sought for the 2012 Governor's Service Awards. The Governor's Service Awards are given annually by the Governor to individuals, organizations, and businesses to acknowledge their commitment to serving their communities through volunteerism. This marks the 20th year of the awards, which will be presented at a celebration hosted by the Governor this June.
